September 2026 Update
Back in Time
Just like Barty coming back to the first day, we're back with a Barty's Adventure Newsletter after over a year-long break. And I've got to say... it's good to be back. While I lost all of my backlog newsletters in the break, I plan on keeping up a monthly cadence going forward and through release.
There's a whole bunch of Barty news to get to, but before diving in I wanted to say welcome to all of the new faces around here. A whole bunch of people stopped by to say hi at our booth at the AnimeNYC convention this past month, and I hope you all stick around to get the latest on what's happening with Barty! And speaking of the convention...
Showing Off

Barty had his first convention! This was a goal I had from the start of my gamedev adventure, as I really wanted to experience a convention from the developer point of view. After debating whether to go big and show off the game at PAX West, I decided to cut the costs down (a lot!) and do Play.NYC at AnimeNYC instead. And let me tell you, I was not prepared for the weekend.
We had thousands of people take a look at the latest demo (more below on that!). Many of them actually tried the game themselves, working through the time-loop to explore the kitchen and save the day! And the response was better than I could possibly imagine. It was a surreal experience having people play the game I've been working so hard on and actually enjoy it. Each chuckle and determined cry made my heart soar.
It was exhausting, but also one of the best moments I've had in this journey. Special shout out to my buddy Mattyo who spent the whole weekend working the booth with me. He talked the game up better than I ever could, and got a couple of free meals out of it as well. Overall it was such an amazing event, and I hope I get the chance to do another some time soon.
Demo Mode

With Play.NYC, I fully updated the game's demo so that attendees could enjoy the most up-to-date version of the game's mechanics. And now (after fixing the bugs and quirks) anyone else can play it too! The demo shown at the convention is now the same one uploaded to Steam. If you haven't tried it already, give it a download here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/3897780/Bartys_Adventure_Demo/
This demo is by far the best demonstration of the time-loop and the sort of decisions you will have to make when looping back to Day One. It even starts off with a classic conundrum: will you keep your rattle for attack or fairy dust for better movement? Do you prefer combat or platforming? The choices are yours!
And if you try the demo out, leave it a review! If we get to ten reviews, Steam will boost the demo page's visibility and increase the reach of the game!
Getting Artsy

Last bit of news is that I have a new artist on board! If you've been following development, you'll know that I contracted an amazing artist to touch up my sprites last year. Unfortunately, he had to leave the project and left me in a bit of a situation. Luckily, we're full steam ahead again with Joao on board as my new character artist! Much like Rufino before him, Joao will be taking my character art and giving them an uplift while keeping the original intent. And so far, his work has been amazing! (Just look at that Dust Bunny!)
Other than that, development is moving forward elsewhere. The Underbed area is almost complete, which would give four more areas left and then bug fixes upon bug fixes. The end is coming sooner than later!
Thanks for sticking with me and talk to you next month!
